The moment we have been waiting weeks for is finally here! Our first look at Ben Affleck as Batman in the new and improved cape and cowl!

We have been waiting weeks to get our first glimpse of Affleck as Bruce Wayne, let alone to see him decked out in full costume. Filming started in Michigan a few weeks ago, and while we have seen a few teases here and there from director Zack Snyder and his crew, nothing big has been revealed. The other day we got our first tease of what the Batmobile will look like, which led us to believe that Snyder would be revealing the batsuit soon enough. The Batmobile tease is below:

Of course, that tease was just to get us interested, and today Snyder tweeted our first look at Ben Affleck in the batsuit. So enough yapping, let’s check out our first look:

I’ll just pause for a moment as you catch your breath and pull your tongue up off the floor. That costume looks absolutely amazing, as does the partially revealed Batmobile beside him. While this isn’t an official still from the film, it is a perfect glimpse into the design of the most recent iteration of the batsuit, and we couldn’t be happier. And here it is brightened up a bit…

The suit itself looks like it was ripped right from the pages of Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns, with the oversized bat symbol and shortened points on the mask. While we will have to wait for an official still of the costume before we can examine it further, this first glimpse at Affleck in the costume does a lot to help get us excited for Batman vs Superman.

While previous costumes have departed from the usual comics design when adapting for the films, this suit looks to embrace some of the great comic aspects of the outfit. Gone is the heavily armored, black batsuits of the Nolan-era, and thankfully we see no Schumacher nipples in sight either. From what we can see in the photo, the heavily muscled suit and seemingly perfectly-sized cowl will match up well with Henry Cavill’s Superman outfit, and we can’t wait to see both characters standing side by side in these fantastic costumes.

Now if they could just pick a name for the movie already.
